Champion Pony Polo Wraps are made from a variety of high quality fleeces.  We use these fleeces for several reasons:  Unlike the material that many polos are made from, our fleeces are very low pilling and are exceptionally soft.  They are also strong, durable, and have a very slight stretch, making them a wonderful material for leg wraps.

They are not as thick as "standard" polo wraps, however.  For smaller horses, ponies, and minis, this can be a good thing; the thickness is more proportionate to the size of the polos and the legs they're wrapped on.

If your horse or pony needs more protection than our wraps can provide, but you would still like to use them, add bandage liners underneath to make up for the lack of bulk in the material (we do not currently sell them, but we can help you locate a store that does).

When our wraps are made, high stress areas are triple stitched to ensure long life.  Additionally, the industrial strength Velcro that we use on our wraps is 2" wide and is stocked in a wide variety of colors.

We make our polos to order because we know that horses and ponies come in all shapes and sizes, and so do their legs.

We offer three standard end finishes for our polo wraps: Custom, Semi-Custom, and Traditional.

Our unique "Custom-end" polo wraps have custom positioned Velcro so that when the wraps are on, the Velcro is hidden (as seen below with a Zebra print polo in Small Pony size and a Dark Brown Cow polo in Regular Horse size).  That way you only see what you want to see - the pattern.

Semi-Custom are similar to Custom, but are made with longer Velcro and are sized to fit a wide range of horses.  The Velcro will usually be visible with Semi-Custom wraps.

Traditional End (Top) and Custom/Semi-Custom End (Bottom)

Traditional ends also feature longer Velcro, which sticks out the end like most other polos.

For more information about end finishes, please visit the "Sizes and Prices" page.

About Champion Pony Products

Champion Pony Products was founded in 2002 in Colorado.  The company's owner has ridden since the age of four with a focus on hunters and dressage.  She began making polos in 2000, and formed Champion Pony Products so that all riders could have access to fun polos that fit their horse or pony.  Champion Pony Polo Wraps are now being worn by horses and ponies from coast to coast, as well as overseas in countries as far away as Switzerland.

Currently our business days are Tuesday - Friday.  We often check e-mails on non-business days, so if you have any questions about our wraps please feel free to e-mail us.

How To Wrap Polos

Begin your wrap from just under the horse’s knee or hock to about halfway down the cannon bone, depending on how the wrap fits the horse.  On the right legs wrap clockwise, on the left legs wrap counter-clockwise (from above; the display leg being wrapped is being wrapped like a left leg).  Wrap down, pulling it snug - not tight (polo wraps are not supportive, and wrapping them too tightly can damage your horse's legs).  Pull only when the wrap is pointed towards the horse’s tail.  Pulling this way helps keep pressure off of the tendon.  With each wrap try to cover ½ to ¾ of the prior.

When you reach the fetlock bring your next wrap down and under it, then back up on the other side.  This should create a “point” on the bottom front of the polo (see lower right picture).

Wrap back up the leg, still covering about ½ to ¾ of the previous one with each wrap and keeping the tension consistent.  When you reach the top you should have just enough of the wrap left to wrap one or two more times around and then secure the Velcro (try to have the Velcro end on the outside of the leg so there is no chance of it being brushed open with the other leg), making sure it is well connected.

If you are still in any way unsure about how to safely wrap our polos, have someone experienced teach you.  Wrapping improperly,  i.e., having the wrapping tension too tight/loose/inconsistent, wrapping too high/low or not high/low enough, wrapping without overlapping the correct amount, etc., can cause serious damage to the horse's leg.  Also, again, our polos are not the same as "standard" store-bought ones, and cannot necessarily be wrapped the same way.  Use good judgment - if you do not know what you are doing, or you have any hesitations, do not wrap!
